Chasing lizards

I like to chase the lizards around in the yard, and so does Scampi.

Here are some of the lizards that we have living in the yard.

Green anoles are easily tamed and are common in the pet trade. They are active during the day, often around human habituation, and regularly bask head down on tree trunks, fence posts, decks or walls.

Brown anoles were introduced to Florida from Cuban and the Bahamas and are now found throughout the state.

The Florida scrub lizard is about five-inches (13 cm) long, and grey-brown with a thick dark brown stripe running down the side of the body from the neck to the base of the tail.
Scrub lizards are endemic to Florida.

Well now I feel like a school teacher, so it must be nap time!

Definitely learned a few things about lizards. Thanks Kira! We got a few around our house too, mommy's scared to death of them! Tried to catch them a few times but they're too fast for me...

Kira--you are so SMART!!!! I'm so excited about this post. I have been chasing the green lizards in my back yard, too. I killed a blue and black lizard about a month ago, but it didn't taste good--so I just left it in the yard. Do you have dragon flies? I killed one of those yesterday!

These are amazing lizards! How cool that you and Scampi can chase them - they are quite fast!
We have a nice sunny day today and Martha was trying to chase ants - somehow not quite as exciting as lizards! Of course Bailey is just sleeping in the sunshine.
Have a lovely day.

Hello there Kira,

What great many variety of lizards you have in your neck of the woods! We only have one - we call 'em 'Cicaks' because that make that 'Cic-cic-caks' noises when they come out at night and eat bugs.

They're great to chase and what we like to do is roll on 'em. Once they're life-less we loose interest. Their broken tails are real fun too ... hehehehe.
