Island Adventure

Mom says we were on Cayo Costa Island, which is also a State Park, we were at the mouth of Charlotte Harbor looking out into the Gulf of Mexico.

Mom and I took as walk on the island while Scampi watched from the boat.
Mom could not convince him to get off the boat! Many of the live oaks were destroyed in Hurricane Charlie,(August 13, 2004)
but many more are recovering . The island took a direct hit from the hurricane.
Mom tried many times to get Scampi off the boat, but he just ran down into the cabin,
I guess he did not want to get wet today,
Mom was even going to carry him to shore, the baby, but he still refused. Island time, having a little drink and relaxing.....
Sunbathing...
Cooling off under the shade....watching a storm rolling inMom and dad made me get back on the boat, we are off....

racing to beat the thunderstorm....

Safely back at the marina, the storms just went around us, we were lucky!
Another pretty sunset

Kira,
Seeing the back of your boat reminded us of something. Did you ever decide on a name?

Maybe Scampi knew the storm was coming and didn't want to have to bother hurrying back to the boat!

Thank dogness you missed that storm - that could have been nasty!
We thought the island was beautiful but we reckon Scampi knew that a storm was coming and decided not to take any chances.
Maybe Scampi is actually very wise and not neurotic at all!!!!

PS we met two Siberian Huskies last night - it was so embarassing cos our mum told them all about you, Khyra and the Army of Four!!! You could just see how bored they all were.........

That storm looked scary. Good thing you got home ahead of it. Maybe Scampi was on guard duty, huh?

that is the really neat thing about boating that i love. when we go down to the south shore it is always so wonderful to see all the boats that island hop down by lunenberg, mahone bay and chester. it must be cool because you have a portable cottage and can explore a different beach and island everyday.

we were suprised to see scampi peaking out from the boat--he just didn't want an adventure that day i guess. poor little guy.

I think that is the first time I have seen a husky on a Florida beach! Looks like you had a great time even if Scampi would not come along. My Moose gets like that sometimes. Just refuses to do something and there is no budging a Moose!
Glad you made it home safe. I know how it is this time of year on the water storms are always around trying to mess up your day!

Reading your blog all Summer, I've decided I'm going to try and persuade Gail to get a boat. It all looks so exciting. But perhaps, as a seasoned mariner, you cold give me some advice. Do you think the boat trips in the North Sea would be just like yours in Florida? I do hope so!
Cheers, H.
